 The Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra is a stunning 11-piece band which forgoes the standard repertoire of vintage salsa covers and sound-alike originals, instead playing dynamic, dura arrangements of indie rock tunes we love. No bananas in the hair; this is innovative, astonishing salsa with a new, vibrant aesthetic.
Their debut album has been hailed throughout the world as a document which resets the boundaries of the art form, appearing on many “Best of 2011” lists, and getting spun in clubs throughout the globe. Led by percussionist/arranger Gianni Mano, (from the Latin-funk legends Radio Mundial), and featuring Argentine chanteuse Solange Prat, along with a full compliment of horns & percussion, the WSO contains some of the best young players on the scene with backgrounds from Columbia, Panama, Puerto Rico, Nueva York, and all over the USA.
